challenge
Spring Fling is an entirely student-driven concert that takes place at the College for Creative Studies campus every year. along with Student Activities, i lead the rethinking and refreshment of the 2022 event.
concept
this year Spring Fling focused its efforts on raising money for the Avalon Healing Center, a local non-profit dedicated to providing services and promoting social change for victims of sexual violence. the concept Embrace Your Voice became the kernel of the design system.
deliverable
the primary deliverable was a tool for live show visuals which i designed, programmed, and performed via computer keyboard during the sets. the visuals generated by the tool defined the visual language for the event.
visual system
the body of the visual system focuses on two main compositions, a set of two rectangles and a grid of circles.
the tool allows the designer or performer to transition between these compositions according to a grid. the tool also has controls for setting horizontal velocity for the circle grid, and swapping the stroke and fill circle colors.
introduction screens
the tool includes introduction screen presets for each of the acts, as well as a general introduction screen for the event.
each preset is labled 0 - 5, so the performer can switch to them at any point during the show.
